Even at those times when my life is very difficult the knowledge that I have excellent vision and hearing and two hands, arms, and legs helps me to understand that my problems are only little ones and that I have much to be happy about.

Among my fellow Americans, I admired and had great respect for the civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., and the former American President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor.

- Yes, and I treasure all of them. Both when I was a child and when I became older, I have always had excellent friends. During the past twenty years, my work has permitted me to live one year or longer in each of eight countries and to travel widely in other parts of the world. In the process, I have developed friendships with many individuals of various nationalities, cultural backgrounds, and religious beliefs. I know that I have been very fortunate, for my friends have contributed much to my happiness, and have contributed greatly to my knowledge and understanding of others.

- I am very achievement oriented. I am rather good at deciding what I want to accomplish in my life and then using my time to achieve my goals.
